Romanians are wary of investments and somewhat rightly so. Some high-profile scams in the 1990s have made a lot of people’s savings disappear overnight and shook their confidence in investment funds, the stock exchange or capital market as a whole. News coming from the Wall Street in the past few years hasn’t been pleasant either. Thus, it is rather normal that Romanians still prefer the simple bank deposit when it comes to saving.
